Hi, my name is Jesse Hathcock. I’m a Raleigh, NC resident who spent most of my 32 year jewelry manufacturing career working in Phoenix, Arizona. When I first moved to Raleigh back in 2015 I continued to be asked to make personalized jewelry for some of my former employers. This demand blossomed into a full time business and I started my company “Stargazers Design” in 2016 and later incorporated to an LLC in 2023. In 2025 I started my new DBA, “Houston Lane” to focus on the more creative and artistic aspects of my uniquely designed, personalized jewelry.

Houston Lane is the new DBA for Stargazers Design, where we specialize in creating one of a kind, unique, personalized jewelry designs, including unique hand colored and drawn jewelry illustrations, 1:1 scale technical drawings and full color artwork for the jewelry connoisseur.

I am the current owner and operator of this company which I began as a sole proprietor in 2016, but I converted my company to an LLC in 2023. We specialize in CAD/CAM jewelry manufacturing with an emphasis on 3D Printing, vacuum and centrifugal casting, as well as finishing and setting.

I worked here part time, two days a week, on jewelry repair, fabrication, diamond and gemstone setting. As well as working directly with customers on counter sketches. I offered my own CAD, 3D printing and casting services which were subcontracted through my company Stargazers Design.

Responsibilities included: I was the owner and sole operator my own CAD/CAM design company that worked exclusively with several jewelry stores in different states where I produced detailed CAD models that upon completion were sent to their own 3D printing and casting houses.
2004-2010 J & J Casting - Phoenix, AZ (This company is no longer in business)
Responsibilities included: Wax carving by hand, pulling waxes from molds. sprueing trees, casting of gold, silver and nickel, rubber mold making, jeweler repair, finishing and fabrication of gold, silver and platinum, diamond and colored stone setting. CAD modeling at home on my own computer.
2000-2004 E.D. Marshall Jewelers - Scottsdale, AZ (Ed Marshall 480-922-1968)
Responsibilities included: Diamond and colored stone setting, with occasional fabrication and refinishing of custom pieces. Diamond and gemstone setting styles consisted of prong, bead and bright, pave, channel and flush setting. CAD modeling was done at home on my own computer.
1998-2000 Jewelry by Gauthier - Scottsdale, AZ (Scott Gauthier 480-941-1707)
Responsibilities included: I worked here exclusively as a diamond setter. All other aspects of the manufacturing process were performed by other jewelers. In this position my setting work consisted almost exclusively of channel setting round and princess cut diamonds.
1994-1998 Etruscan Fine Gold - Phoenix, AZ (Dan Marchetti 602-277-4871)
Responsibilities included: Finishing gold and platinum mountings, soldering findings, minor diamond and colored stone setting, assisted in wax carving by hand, general fabrication and jewelry repair, while using the sparky welder for findings assembly.

When it comes to having a CAD model built for your custom jewelry there’s no substitute for having it built by a qualified and experienced jeweler. Many CAD houses employ 3D modelers with no jewelry manufacturing experience at all. They produce nice looking models, but when it comes time to set them and the tolerances are wrong, it can add costly delays to your project when models have to be changed and recast. I don’t just build my CAD models, I set the stones in them as well. I know what your jewelers expect to do the job right the first time.
